I have continually shot Hipstamatic through Covid-19, but have not posted on this website. To see my latest work visit Instagram, @secretgardenwalden This site is based on the Hipstamatic app and my garden.
2019… a new year of Hipstamatic imagery… #hipstamatic @secretgardenwalden
Last year only a few women graced the land before my lens. Women in nature is my regular imagery. As a Second Wave Feminist I see the two interwoven…both should be honored not taken for granted…may this year grant this combination.

Summer Dreams, August 18/19, 2019
An abundance of blooms, almost overwhelming, the garden belongs to the bees and hummingbirds. I rarely use the blur slider in Hipstamatic and Whoa is an unusual film. This shake to randomize combination was a wonderful surprise.

Medusa, August 14, 2019
@marie.blaison suggested the filaments and anthers of tiger lilies reminded her of snakes and Medusa, so this was created as a spontaneous response. I never really was photographed when I was younger, never attractive enough, now older I wish I had allowed a camera. The pain of self-portraiture…and a reminder there is always more to a myth. Medusa was transformed because of her beauty and had two sisters together they represent the Triple Goddess.

The Night Garden, August 8, 2019

Hood Museum Visit, June 20, 2019
The girl at the front desk was rude. The rooms are now organized in a white guilt way. The Tom Hunter was hung way to low with lots of glare. In general there is window glare on all the art behind glass. I am not a complainer, but after this major renovation rudeness, poor hanging and an attitude of conquest/thievery is appalling. My reflection in Imogen Cunningham and Tom Hunter and an adaption of a piece that probably shouldn’t be on exhibit.

May 6/7, 2019 First Flowers, Sepia, and Chromoskedasic
I love spring, a return to earthly life. All of my Hipstamatic alterations are based on classic darkroom work. In the tray is a chromoskedasic print, light scattering, as the chemistry is applied to the exposed print in light which is rare for darkroom work.

Muse, February 2, 2019
To honor the new HisptaPak, Montmartre, my current muse and the words of Victor Hugo, To His Muse:
Since everything below,
Doth, in this mortal state,
Its tone, its fragrance, or its glow
Communicate;
Since all that lives and moves
Upon the earth, bestows
On what it seeks and what it loves
Its thorn or rose; …
My spirit, whose essay
Flies fearless, wild, and free,
And hath, and seeks, to guide its way
No star but thee.

VHSSnapPak by Hipstamatic, January 8, 2019
Not my favorite pak, really what are some of these for? Yet, they make their .99 from all of us who love Hipstamatic. I do love it and wish I had a 40 megapixel phone camera to give up other cameras! How many years before that happens? I still love film; it is real, tangible and will exist for years after I pass… So I did my best to use this new pack. If I shot avant garde theater it might be great, some form of Surrealism…
Top row: Whoa/Joey/JuicyOrangeGel, center and left: Whoa/Joey/BerryPop.
Blue, blue, electric blue… January 6, 2019

Kitschy Richy, January 5/6, 2019
Gorgeous evening with apricot pink clouds…a few shots before the light goes. I haven’t practiced much with the new film.
All: KitschyRichy/Lite/JollyRainbo2X
Stavros Glitch, January 4/5, 2019
So the border occurs when the flash is on, but only Jolly Rainbow 2x and Berry Pop leave an electric colored edge. Films with edges, such as Montjuic M29 and Stand Up add more interest. Maple film leaves a wonderful wooden edge, but I don’t necessarily want the board lines in the image. Top row: Hornbecker/DTypePlate/JollyRainbo2X, center: AuroraNCL/Sponza16/JollyRainbo2x, left: LuciferVI/Cinzano36/JollyRainbo2X and variations below.
New Year, New Muse, January 1, 2019
We have made an agreement to try to shoot for one year. This day was miserably cold, grey, windy and snowing. Maybe both of weren’t that enthused. Top row: tintype app. for right and left images: KitschyRichy/Estrada83/JollyRainbo2X, Penny/Reeta/Apollo over Eric/Stranger/TripleCrown, and Hannah/Runway/JollyRainbo2X. Stranger film makes the x’s and Estrada 83 has wonderful rainbow, watercolor-edge possibilities. Sometimes when you save in Hipstamatic there is loss or change of information, bottom row with Estrada 83…couldn’t get right weight to flesh tone.
Old Barn, Old Tree, January 1, 2019
Hipstamatic: Tejas/KodotGrizzled/JollyRainbo2X all top ow, variations underneath. The barn is dangerous to walk in and the tree I photograph but never from that angle before. The possibilities of first or new sight always amaze me. Bordered images are the Stavros Glitch Exploration Project.
2018 End of Year Grids
While some people on IG just post one grid I did a more seasonal interpretation…I don’t want my eye reduced to nine images. 2018 was about learning Hipstamatic with all editing done on an iPhone 8 plus. Perhaps my time could be better spent in the darkroom or photoshopping larger images…
Country Mouse Visits the City Occasionally, 2017/18
Other than contacting people, my main use for an iPhone is the Hipstamatic app. Most of my recent photographic work has been created using Hipstamatic's variety of lens, film and flash combinations. There are so many; the learning curve is crazy. My methodology is to pick a combination for the day, one that matches the weather, subject matter and my mood. The "shake to randomize" feature gets me going; sometimes I tweak the combination. While I am controlled and more scientific in the darkroom or shooting film, Hipstamatic's freedom and surprise is liberating. All imagery is shot and edited on the phone using only Hipstamatic unless noted. I try to credit the artists who inspire me. This page is just being started, so in process...Text is below imagery. Top row is most always my Instagram feed found @secretgardenwalden.

Grey Day Uchitel, December 29, 2018
Went to photograph new muse, horrendous freezing rain making roads dangerous, missed the shoot, but wanted to work. Uchitel 20 and D-Type Plate are two of my favorite Hipstamatic films. I wish they were combined so there could be a sepia tintype edge. Matching a lens to Uchitel is difficult because the film is flat with little separation of mid-tones and loss of contrast. I haven’t really used Kitschy Richy yet because of the grey weather. So far on IG it looks best when there is light. Top row: right: Hannah/Uchitel20/Apollo, center:Salvador84/Uchitel20/Apollo, left: Hamilton/Uchitel20/Apollo. Below the bones is KitschyRichy/Estrada83/JollyRainbo2x then image no edit. Bottom right is: Antoni/Clauch72 Apollo. Clauch 72 is another great classic look film.
Stavros Glitch Experimentation, December 27/28, 2018
The glitch happens direct from camera and disappears upon editing except when I “edit existing”. Belem film leaves and apple green border, too bright for me. Center: Stavros/Belem/BerryPop, right: Stavros/Belem/JollyRainbo2X, left: same, but Apollo flash. Delaunay 1941 film adds lovely Cubist tints. The deer-headed goddess tree has a broken branch, not my land, so will see what the owners do as far as trimming…
Stavros Christmas Glitch, December 26, 2108
My Stavros lens in Hipstamatic has a glitch that makes an unusual border. I haven’t gone through all of the films to find out results. This Stavros/Zama combination came as a result “shake to randomize”. Quite a lovely, but very pink surprise. First image is the hydrangea, then the series with the abandoned house. The ice and ponies have been manipulated a second time: Stavros/Panaji/JollyRainbo2x and Hannah/Dasher/Apollo.
Early Morning, Bitter Cold, December 13, 2018
One of my favorite roads in Johnson, just before work. Holding my coffee to warm my hands instead of drinking it. Love the golden light of: VicunaCL/Robusta/Apollo.
Sepia, December 9/10, 2018

For the Birds, December5/6, 2018
Some of my favorites, better alive then taxidermy. I have never seen a kakapo (Frosty/Panaji/Apollo), but find them so beautiful. There are less than 150 adults alive today. The center: Salvador84/Love81/JollyRainbo2X. Left: another bird favorite, the Wandering Albatross, also never seen (KallyX3/Vientiane/JollyRainbo2X). Give to organizations that help birds, animals and the environment!
Fairbanks Museum, St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Christmas Glitch, December5/6, 2018
In Hipstamatic my Stavros lens has a glitch which I adore. I haven’t used it in awhile and Cinematheque film adds a lovely red edge, very holiday oriented! All of the above with odd border are unedited: Stavros/Cinematheque/noflash.
If I Venture Out, December 4/5, 2018
The darkness of my room (JohnS/Daydream/JollyRainbo2X), McNeill’s and shop window in Brattleboro (VicunaCL/Irom2000/Apollo).
Woods at Work (Green and Blue), December 2, 2018
I am a big advocate for going outdoors. The more time spent in nature the clearer the mind and more compassionate the heart…stop thinking about yourself and enter the world of mother nature…see yourself as just one link in the chain. I am always healed by nature. All images a variation of: ScottS/Sugar/Standard. I like this painterly approach to Hipstamatic, using the sliders for refinement. This was a “shake to randomize” choice. Reminds me of Maxfield Parrish before the sun goes down.

Shapes and Prints in Snow and Vine, November 25, 2018
The horse-headed Solomon’s Seal is one of my favorites. Top row: Beard/Love81/JuicyOrangeGel, center: AuroraNCL/Manneken/TripleCrown, and left: Beard/Love81/JuicyOrangeGel. The vines were next to a gas station pull of where I do bottle redemption. I can’t believe how much they looked like a star…variations…
Trapped Animal, November 26, 2018
Shades of feminism and the Victorian woman, seclusion for 48 hours after photo dynamic therapy…wear your damn sunscreen (reapply) and a hat. Perhaps self-pity in the form of art of at least Instagram…
Right: ScottS/Pearl/JuicyOrangeGel, center: Leonard/Cinematheque/CherryShine and left: Americana/Reeta/JuicyOrangeGel.
December in November, November 21/22, 2018
Abnormal snowfall and cold over Thanksgiving week has made it seem more like Christmas. '“Always winter and never Christmas”… the White Witch of Narnia. Montjuic M29 film looks great with snow, maybe it’s the monochrome that helps it.
Hipstamatic: VicunaCL/MontjuicM29/JollyRainbo2X for all. Vicuna CL seems to go with everything!
Belle Epoque, November 21, 2018
The Shelburne Museum and my gorgeous new model. While I love the architecture, art and textiles of yesterday’s one percent things have got to change…
Right: Vincent/ArjanBW/PopRox, center: Salvador84/Reeta/Standard and left: Stavros/Cheshire/DreamPop over Vincent/ArjanBW/DreamPop.
Lily Variations, November 19, 2018

Golden Oak, November 17/18, 2018
Snow, cold and late afternoon light. Hipstamatic: VicunaCL/Love81/Apollo all. Etched gold/apricot with hints of blue.
Shelburne Museum, November 15, 2018

Muses of Diamond Jim, November 12/13, 2018
I love old rose, sepia and variations plus this cemetery statue in Brattleboro, Vermont. Currently a mixed bag, but will have to set a more definite decision. Hipstamatic: Surrealist rt.: Jing/BlankoC16/RedEyeGel over Jane/Stranger/NoFlash, center: AuroraNCL/BlankoBL4/RedEyeGel, left.: Elijah/BlankoC16/JuicyOrangeGel,. Second row: rt.: Leonard/Cinematheque/Apollo, center: LuciferVI/BlankoC16/DreamPop, left: AuroraNCL/BlankoBL4/RedEyeGel.
Cold Morning on the Hog Back Road, November 8, 2018
Bitter cold drive down favorite road near work. The light was astounding, blinding; I saw spots for an hour after. Love how the light makes branches into cobwebs. Top row: rt.: Smith/Sequoia/LaserLemonGel, center and below: Wonder/Prancer/JuicyOrangeGel (both, adjusted with sliders), left: Chan/Indio/JollyRainbo2X and under: Libatique73/Uchitel20/Tastypop.
Flowers for Friends, November 6/7, 2018
Sympathy from IG friends about voting made we want to give flowers to those who regularly reach out. For @marie.blaison, top rt.: Sergio/Love81/CherryShine over Fynn8mm/AbbotK20/PurpleRaindropsGel, center: for @tatiamaslenkina: Fynn8mm/Donner/BerryPop, left: for @mocamasezapaz: Fynn8mm/Runway/Apollo. Flowers at the Dartmouth College greenhouses, #teammorphy.
Sepia Woods, November 4, 2018
I pass this wood frequently, but slender trees block the older maples; there is minimal light and poison ivy. Shot late in the afternoon on a cloudy day with minimal light. The age and shapes of these trees, texture, and sepia are my main focus.
Hipstamatic: VicunaCL/ Uchitel20/TripleCrown over Chivas//Uchitel20/TripleCrown all. Slider variations bring out gold or red tones.
Sailor’s Warning, November 3, 2018
Early walk, light just breaking, amazing rippling rose orange clouds…Hipstamatic: GieGie/Rasputin/JuicyOrangeGel
Purple and Gold, November 2, 2018
After the Hipstamatic imagery of @tatiamaslenkina using Chivas/FourMinarets/JollyRainbo2X. The woods have darkened. I missed shooting bright tamaracks and the only trees with leaves are oak and beech.
All Soul’s Day, November 1, 2018
Rt.: Stavros/Uchitel20/BerryPop, center: finally a use for Blitzen, the religious icon film!: KhunLo/Blitzen/JuicyOrangeGel,
lft.: Stavros/Uchitel20/BerryPop over KallyX3/Aristotle/TripleCrown. The right and left are my attempts at duplicating darkroom processes such as Sabbatier Effect (solarization), chromoskedasic, Halochrome and sepia, etc. What is logical in chemical process is not necessary the same as in pixel manipulation! I do love the Kally lens, but I don’t want to over use it or become reliant on it. Every Hipstamatic artist has their favorite go to settings.
October Valentine…First Heavy Snow, October29, 2018, title from @jeff.korte called this A Valentine in October
KhunLo/Hackney/TastyPop for all. Usually for triptychs I try to use the same setting, but often the sliders vary a little bit. Rarely do I copy effect; I just find it doesn’t work for me. Slightly creepy, oddly beautiful, pre-winter wonderland…
Shelburne Museum and S.P.A.C.E. Gallery, October 25, 2018
Had not been to the Shelburne Museum for a long time. The visit coincided with a @hipstatones challenge for the fish eye lens… did a little feminist anti-yellow wallpaper… The @spacegalleryvt is always incredible and took a tintype of director Christy Mitchell, @christyfromspace. A good day was had by all! First three rows on Instagram. @shelburnemuseum
Top row: rt.: Fynn8mm/Uchitel20/JollyRainbo2X, center: Fynn8mm/KodotGrizzled/TriadGel, Lft.: Lumiere/Liberty/LaserLemonGel over Fynn8mm/LouisXIVInfrared/RedEyeGel. Beech and First Snow, October 24/5, 2018
Mesmerizingly gorgeous, the first snow lures me out into a wonderland where gold and sepia tones gild the landscape; it is seductive.Beauty looks good in so many ways; it was hard to decide the settings and sliders. Below are slight variations and a couple straight shots.
Top row: Dee/Love81/TastyPop, all. Originals were Anne-Marie/Blanko/JuicyOrangeGel.
Chair, Windows and Door to Nowhere, October 23/4, 2018
So many artistic choices! Top row: rt.: KhunLo/Cinematheque/Apollo (at Perennial Pleasures, Hardwick, VT), center: Sergio/Love81/CherryShine #twicebaked over the same except Apollo, left.: same as right. The rest in process: red light: Lite film, geometric: Takashi/BlankoFreedom13/CubicGel, pink: Foxy/Lite/CherryShine, original chair: RobotoGlitter/Float
Golden Leaves, going, going, gone… October 18, 2018
Hipstamatic: Sergio/StandUp/Standard and center: Stavros/Clauch72/JollyRainbo2X
The gold edges of Stand Up film have always appealed to me. These trees are part of my regular walk, see previous ents. I photograph them often and never get tired of them. The road crew is slowly killing these roadside beauties by raising the road and pushing further on the sides. The Dog/Wolf Tree, on the left, is actually a dead stump now that the woodpeckers have filled with holes. The tree on the right is the Queen.
Purple Skies, October 17, 2018
Another night of amazing clouds. Hipstamatic: Leonard/Rasputin/TastyPop, maybe a bit Albert Bierstadt.
Sort of stuck on Rasputin film, have rarely used Leonard lens, Tasty Pop flash is slowly replacing Apollo because it’s not as harsh.
Egyptian Clouds, October 16, 2018
Hipstamatic: Akira/Rasputin/TastyPop
Late afternoon walk around the block; the sky was rippled with blue and bronze clouds. Second row are variations, right is part of set.
Vale of Ents, October 14, 2018
A special birthday present for an IG friend, @karinjuddd
This is my favorite walk; these trees are my family. I have known them since the early 80”s.
All a version of Hipstamatic: Chivas/Rasputin/JuicyOrangeGel over tintype. Tintype is my favorite app
and it is made extra special when combined with Hipstamatic. These are reminiscent of Romantic painters.
Harvey Lake, October 13, 2018
Day drive to revisit this little blue cabin. Brown image: Penny/Estrada83/JuicyOrangeGel over Akira/BlacKeysIR/CubicGel, Blue image: Savannah/TRoosevelt26/CubicGel, green image: JohnS/Panaji/CubicGel.
Looks abandoned on a little hill, not on the water. Used as part of a #hipstatones challenge.
Great Vermont Corn Maze, October 9, 2018
Twenty-four acres of very tall corn at: http://www.vermontcornmaze.com
Not normally a tourist in my own state, but fun between final fall yard work. Gorgeous day…took us two hours.
Thangka, October 8/9, 2018
On view at the Hardwick Inn building in support of Child Haven, http://www.childhaven.ca These are the real thing, amazing to see, painting and embroidery is astounding. I used RTV Shout film in Hipstatmatic to turn them into political works. VOTE!!!
Autumn Float, end of September, beginning October, 2018
Hipstatones Challenge using Float film…lenses used: Chan, Stavros and KhunLo.
Autumn Fog, October 7, 2018
Early morning walk, very thick fog, shake to randomize Hipstamatic: LuciferVI/Pearl/JuicyOrangeGel, tweaked just a bit.
Lumber Yard, October, 2018
Started with Mark/Pistil then went to Mark/Rasputin/JollyRainbo2X. The log image is a little weak, should go back for more.
The Apple Queen, October 2/3, 2018
A fantastic model who brought her own apple; I have yet to really work on these.
Top row: right: Mindel/Runway/Apollo, center: Akira/Runway/Apollo over Tintype, left: Stavros/Runway/JollyRainbo2x
The definition setting on Hipstamatic often looks fine until you publish on IG, then it becomes too grainy!
Kent Museum, http://www.kentscorner.org/art-at-the-kent.html
The wonderful work of Wendy Copp, http://wendy-copp-feg0.squarespace.com/gallery/
Hipstamatic: Ruddy/CTypePlate/Apollo, C Type Plate seemed perfect for clothing made of plant material.
Kent Museum, the work of Cristina Salusti & Jeffrey Simpson
Hipstamatic: Hema/Belem/TastyPop, copy effect never seems to work for me, as you can see very subtle variations occur and can be hard to discern with all Hipstamatic editing done on an iPhone.
Cold Powder
Hipstamatic: JohnS/DTypePlate/NoFlash, I love D-Type Plate and wish they made a sepia of it, even a good cyanotype. Uchitel 20 has great tones, but I dislike the white border. T. Roosevelt 26 is nice but is missing something; I’ve used blue toners and cyanotype a lot. Maybe someday Hipstamatic will be more interested in old processes or the altered chemistry look without a hipster vibe!
Free Spirit, Madame X Goes Country, shot September 13, 2018
Hipstamatic: KhunLo/Runway/JuicyOrangeGel, clarity 42, shadow +34, vibrancy -25, temperature 7320, texture 47, vignette 82
I rarely do copy and paste effects. As a darkroom printer I am used to doing works one at a time and not assuming the transition will be exact.
These are the first grouping shown that way!
Madame X Homage, September 13, 2018
Hipstamatic: Hornbecker/QueenWest/Apollo, with adjustments, slight variations to all.
Perennial Pleasures Porch, early summer, 2018, http://perennialpleasures.net
This was taken very early in the season. The PPN porch is a classic for tea then later in the day wine or a cocktail and always good conversation. For years the annuals have been red, rose-colored, orange, yellow, and golden flowers.
I am happy with the right image: Salvador84/BlankoOI/TastyPop, center: same but with more definition and the left: same, but could be stronger.
Butterfly Box, posted Sept. 1, 2018
These certainly aren't the best photographs, but the subject matter is interesting. No close-up lens, etc. maybe a do over, but these are living and time changes such subject matter quickly. The power of the lens...you either get it or you don't!
Golden, August 31, 2018
Originally I was going to post images of Diana, @mountainhollowmedicinals, but then a desire for golden tones overtook me. Oriental lily rt.: Takashi/Runway/TripleCrown (3 step process), top center: MattyAlyn/ArjanBW/JollyRainbo2x, left: Stavros/Delaunay1941/Apollo.
Below: Lumiere/TRoosevelt26/BerryPop and Lumiere/ATypePlate/BerryPop.
Nicotiana (Woodland Tobacco), August 30, 2018
Top row: rt. Foxy/KodotGrizzled/JollyRainbo2X, reminded me of a Medieval tapestry, center: ScottS/Tilda/Apollo, just about how it looked, minimal
tweaking. Left: Foxy/KodotGrizzled/JollyRainbo2X and below other possibilities in process.
Sepia Greenbank Hollow, same shoot as below.
Some are maybe a hair redder than others. I do not copy effect on Hipstamatic (maybe rarely); I individual adjust each one. The slightest adjustment makes great changes, plus I am doing this on my phone screen. No adjustments happen on an enlarged surface and I don't save anything to the cloud. All of the above: Jane/Otto/JuicyOrangeGel on top of Franklin/Dtypeplate/BerryPop.
Back to Greenbank, shot August 26, 2018
I am obsessed with this place; it is so beautiful...a moss world, gurgling water, massive rocks, cool breeze...I haven't really photographed or shown
rocks, but this is where the bear rock lives. Stone and greenness, decided by Shake to Randomize feature, which is my usual starting point each
day. Rocks: Scott/Tilda/Apollo. Center: same except JollyRainbo2X, this rock/tree combo looks like Jabba the Hut!
Copper, August 24, 2018
Perhaps too red with these but copper toner in the darkroom can produce quite a brilliant orange red tone, think of Edward Curtis prints. Jewel weed is difficult to photograph, so much going on...the plants are large, the blossoms small, the seed heads veined and glistening. Top right: Frosty/Vientiane/Apollo. Center rodgersia: JohnS/Atypeplate/TastyPop. Left: JackLondon/BlankoC16/TastyPop. Second row: options considered in
the process. Left: LeAllan/Shilshole/JollyRainbo2X. Center: Fynn8mm/DreamCanvas/JollyRainbo2X. Right: LeAllan/Shilshole/JuicyOrangeGel.
Butterflies, August 23, 2018
There are many astounding butterfly and bee images on IG. Butterflies move away from the large shadow of my gardening hat. Thought I would try to capture a few. Top right and left: Mumtaz/Delaunay1941/JuicyOrangeGel. Center: Salvador84/Float/BerryPop.
Turning Gold, August 22, 2018
Before the season begins it shift from summer to autumn I wanted to experiment with tones. In the darkroom I do a lot of sepia, copper and chromoskedasic toning. In Hipstamatic it is usually a two to four step process: color image to black and white or blue(cyanotype) then transition to the selected tone. Perhaps others can do this more simply, but I rely on my silver gelatin printing knowledge.
Right: Neville/W40/Apollo, center was the transitional adjustment: Tejas/Atypeplate/JollyRainbo2x (@artoman has done amazing images with this combo). Left: Butternut and Kiwi: LeAllan/Shilshole/TripleCrown.
Greenbank Hollow, shot August 21, 2018
Some places are so beautiful images just see to fail the sensation of being there. This place is emerald, mossy, and glittering with hints of red cedar bark and pale olive in the water, either from reflections or moss on submerged river stones. On this day I brought a 120 camera, a digital camera and iPhone...the film camera jammed, the digital had no battery (at home charging), so again...Hipstamatic. Life/Art is portable I guess. Planning to shoot in color 120 though. Top row: ScottS/Dreamy/BerryPop, below are other possibilities. Sort of intrigued by second row rt.: same selections but sliders are: Clarity 66, Highlight -84, Shadow +55, Vibrancy -7, Texture 100, Vignette 2.
Hydrangea, shot August 19, 2018
Early morning walk revealed perfect light. The creamy white hydrangeas visibly glowed. Originally I wanted to do a color image. The right: Khunlo/Indio/JuicyOrangeGel is perhaps the best, a little more subtle. The other two are a little warmer, same lens, film and flash.
Hollyhock Tears, shot August 18, 2018
These ended up being very Victorian. Top row: rt.: Akira/Shilshole/Apollo. Below the image are the two earlier renderings; the bottom being the straight shot, ScottS/BlacKeys Supergrain. Then, I added contrast and was considering do a black and white (middle: by adding BerryPop flash and using slider adjustments. A similar process can be seen in the middle triple where I take the original, bottom (more yellow: Salvador84/BlacKeysIR/CherryShine) to center: AuroraNCL/BlacKeysIR/CherryShine) which for a moment could have gone Man Ray or Blumenfeld style. Top middle: Mindel/CTypePlate/BerryPop. Top left: Yoona/Irom2000/JollyRainbo2X.
Sunflowers, shot August 17, 2018
Sunflowers are so iconic they are difficult to photograph. This year I only grew 2,000! The most I have ever grown is 21,000! The quantity made me think of the poppies in The Wizard of Oz and the colors and general shape of Munchkin Land, especially the Lollipop Guild. I dragged a ladder out into the field to capture the amount, but their heads do tend to turn down.
Top row: rt.: Mumtaz/Delaunay1941/LaserLemonGel, top middle: Khunlo/Indio/JollyRainbo2x, top left: Mumtaz/Delaunay1941/LaserLemonGel.
Second row: middle: Pablo Mark I was used before the final conversion: Khunlo/Indio/JollyRainbo2x, reminds me of the band, Kansas and a dustbowl. Third row: middle: had a version that was more gold, over adjusted and lost it. My intention was hinting at Klimt's Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I background.
Night-blooming Cereus, August 17, 2018 (Happy Birthday Marie @marie.blaison)
This plant is actually Epiphyllum oxypetalum or Queen of the Night. This year it bore two dinner plate sized blossoms of such outrageously gorgeous fragrance...the scent often reveals the plant is in bloom. A bud swells, but opens and fades in a night. Tintype app altered with Hipstamatic app except for first row center: Juan/Aristotle/Apollo, top right: Leonard/Polina/Standard, top left: Lumiere/Cinematheque/Standard.
East Peacham Cemetery, Peacham, Vermont, photographed August 11, 2018
Very old cemetery with graves from the late 1700's. The grave on the right belongs to a Revolutionary War soldier and includes a Masonic symbol. The SXF 1800 stone was very primitive with a pirate feel. Life in the Northeast Kingdom would have been pretty rough .
Classic settings: JohnS/DTypePlate/TripleCrown or Apollo for flash. Included is a color image (Stavros/Delaunay1941/JollyRainbo2X) to show the pale, opalescent, soft pink and blue tinged look of indian pipe (Monotropa uniflora).
Metallic, August 15, 2018, with help from Rhonda B @rbaumga77, who explained the MattyAln/ArjanBW/BerryPop combination. Just go crazy with the sliders! Squash has Apollo flash and barn has JollyRainbo2X. Texture, vibrancy and shadow sliders seem the most important. Color comes from temperature. Works with some images but not all.
The Parting of the Veils, August 13, 2018
Left: Lumiere/Shilshole/JollyRainbo2X, center: Khunlo/Rasputin/Standard, right: Frosty/Love81/Apollo
The center setting should be explored for possibilities!
Bird and X, August 11, 2018
The pink of morning woke me and I ran outside to see a jet trail cross a thin cloud. The light was changing quickly, so I just shot without looking at
settings. The middle and left are for Darryl B. Rogers, an amazing Australian artist who creates video, installation, and virtual artwork about liminality, the environment, beauty and humanity. http://darrylrogers.com and @darrylbrogers We are in the process of a collaboration and I am very excited to find a location for this new work.
Accidental Stop (A Place for Marie), Craftsbury, Vermont, shot on August 8, 2018
The Sergio/Runway/CadetBlueGel combination is a variation only film modified from @artoman (July 31 post).
Top row: Instagram post, with the right image first inspiration. Second row: possible tweaks, same combination.
Third row: contemplating Delaunay film Bottom row: a metallic look not quite resolved,
inspiration from @rbaumga77 who explained effect to me (thank you!).

Plight of Women
When not photographing trees and flowers of my rural environment my favorite subject matter is art. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a photographer's dream. Hipstamatic: Beard/Inas1969/Noflash, Sides: Andromeda by Domenico Guidi, Center: Lucretia by Philippe Bertrand, both in the Carroll and Milton Petrie European Sculpture Court.

The new Cubism Pak
First row (August 4, 2018): Teja/KodotXGrizzled/TripleCrown, RayMarkII/KodotXGrizzled/Apollo, Ruddy/KodotXGrizzled/JollyRainbo2X
Second row: first two: straight pak PabloMarkI/Delaunay1941, then PabloMarkI/Kowloon1839/PurpleRaindropsGel
Third row: pal on older images: Thoughts of Georgia O'Keeffe (PabloMarkI/Estrada83/TastyPop), For Twin Tom (PabloMarkI/Delaunay1941/JuicyOrangeGel), Dreams of Julia Margaret (PabloMarkI/Shilshole/JuicyOrangeGel)
I thought of the Starn Twins while making the last row.
Insects and Such
July 25-29, 2018 The Sergio/Stranger/Apollo combination was a pleasant and slightly odd random set.
Top row is adjusted, middle row is straight Hipstamatic and the third row is an unaltered fairy ring. Wasps are appearing like crazy at our house. The type making the shell nest are aggressive, but we have just left them alone.
Sergio/Runway/CadetBlueGel is such a perfect combination. Most of these are unedited or barely adjusted. Morning walk, August 2, 2018.
Pink Sky, July 22, 2018
Woke early then fell asleep on the couch only to be awoken by pinkness. It was so vivid, so pink, it lured me out of the house. Originally shot with Jane/MaximusLXIX to keep the colors clean and the image straight forward. It was Sunday so I selected a preset Salvador84/Love81/NoFlash for the final. Top row: for straight (Karen Blixen), add JollyRainbo2X, add JuicyOrangeGel (William Blake and J.M.W. Turner). Blake and Turner entered my mind and then a mental fire pit of Africa. This morning changed something for me.
Green Man, July 20, 2018
Early evening in the backyard and I noticed a vine and tree Green Man who I had never seen before. Then, I realized a maple tree and woodbine monster was talking to him. Shake to randomize gave me BettieXL/CTypePlate which made a pale red curtain which I thought was impossible. My daughter later said the first row center (tweaked: LuciferVI/Irom2000/Apollo) image reminded her of Twin Peaks.
Top row far right: BettieXL/CTypePlate/Poprox Second row: surrounding woods (BettieXL/CTypePlate/TripleCrown)
Third row: variations: lft. BettieXL/CTypePlate/Apollo, rt. Salvador/Gonbi/JollyRainbo2X
Greenbank Hollow I, Danville, Vermont, July 16, 2018
Our first visit to this location. A moss forest with mill ruins, very picturesque.
Top row: The Bear Lowy/DC/TripleCrown, The Portal Lowy/DC/Apollo, The Shaman Lowy/Vientiane/Apollo.
Ending with unedited tintypes.
Cemeteries
We visit cemeteries often. When you live in the country a cemetery is like a park; the grass is mowed and there are plantings and sculpture. This section will be expanded.
Night Sky, May 18, 2018
Looking for the cat, crisp air and a little cresent moon tempt me to shoot without a tripod or a close-up lens; I balance my phone on a wobbly metal fence.
First row: Fynn8mm/Kowloon1839/Yuletide, Juan/BlankoC16/SpiroGel, Susie/CTypePlate/JollyRainbo2X
Far right reminds me of Martin Johnson Heade's work, sacred geometry goes with cosmic space and of course some kind of flare/crystal ball magic. Second row: variations, far right I was thinking of Japanese textiles and composition.
